I never thought I’d say this but… These senior portraits at Torrey Pines State Beach has forever changed my mind about beach photography. Normally I try to avoid photo sessions at the beach, the harsh light of our California sunsets can be difficult to deal with. But mostly, to be honest I find the beach kinda boring….*gasp*… Now before you stop reading and unfollow me, hear me out. 😉

Don’t get me wrong I like the beach, but from a photographers stand point the landscape doesn’t usually provide a variety of backgrounds. Even if the client changes wardrobe, the final gallery starts to look like a lot of duplicate photos. I aim to give my clients a great experience and a good return on their investment.  A big part of what I like to do is provide a range of portraits that include different “backdrops” and poses and sometimes outfits changes to produce a final collection that contains a variety of beautiful images for the client to choose from.

I’m so glad I gave the beach another chance! Torrey Pines State Beach is amazing! Unlike any beach I’ve ever been to in So Cal. Gorgeous hiking through the natural coastal pine forest and the sandstone canyons. And sunset on the bluffs was absolutely epic! There’s so many great photo op spots, we could have spent all day there. A must visit day trip location, and an even better spot for a photo session.

I loved every minute with this beautiful senior. Madison is full of personality, so easy going, and a pleasure to be around. With her captivating blue eyes and amazing smile, she made my job so easy. Congratulations Madison! Class of 2022!
