Flat Lay Workshop
Temecula, California
I had the opportunity to attend an amazing flat lay workshop last week. If your unfamiliar with the term, a flat lay is a photo taken from directly above an object. It’s usually a collection of items laid out on a flat surface and your getting the “birds eye view”. For wedding photography its a great way to showcase special items and details from your wedding day.
This was an area of my photography that I really wanted to improve so I can serve my clients better. I wasn’t terrible at flat lays, but I realized my photos were lacking something and I couldn’t figure out what it was I was doing wrong. I understand that my clients invest a significant amount of money into their wedding day. Wether its custom invitation suites and paper goods or personal details. I want to be able to highlight those items to the best of my ability, because you’ve spent a significant amount of time and money choosing those special items and they are important to you. And it’s very important to me to be able to not only just take a snap shot for memories sake. I want to be able to provide beautifully styled images so, yes, you will have all the memories preserved from your wedding day but you also will be able to enjoy every little thing and all the reasons you fell in love with those details in the first place.
I’m so thrilled with my new skills! Seriously one workshop day was a game changer! I’m a firm believer that you should never stop trying to learning or trying new things. And If you don’t like something, change it!
