I have a pretty small immediate family, but counting grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins we are quite the scene. Growing up for every birthday or holiday there was at least a minimum of 30 people at every celebration. I always thought that it was normal for families to get along and like to hangout with each other. I later learned that’s not always the case unfortunately. I’m so grateful to come from such an amazing and loving family. Over the years our numbers have dwindled in size at events. Mostly do to out of state moves, but sadly we have also had several pass on from this earth.

I think my up bringing and current family state is one of the reasons I love doing generational family sessions. I love seeing all the family dynamics and watching how everyone interacts with each other. It gives me good feelings and brings back so many great memories. I love not only being able to create images that these families will treasure, but also providing a fun experience and giving them an opportunity to create memories they will fondly look back on.

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing the Landry Family (missing 5 due to flu). This big beautiful blended family was so much fun! They were celebrating a 60th and 6th birthday. Some family members live in Northern California, so this was a great opportunity to take advantage of and  get everyone together for family pictures. They rented out this awesome villa in Temecula (check it out here) for everyone to stay and play all weekend long. The villa even has a water slide! I was about to ditch my own family and hangout with these guys all day! LOL JK!
