Urban Vibes in Old Town Temecula | Jake
Downtown urban vibes
My client, Jake, really wanted an urban aesthetic close to home for his high school senior photos. Navigating his request for a local setting presented an interesting opportunity to discover a unique and fitting backdrop without venturing outside our city. We explored Old Town Temecula to capture some urban vibes for his senior portraits. Temecula might not scream “urban,” but with a bit of creativity, we made it work. When clients trust my location ideas, it opens the door to discovering unexpected spots right in our own town. It also leads to some really great portraits.
Confident Style
As a photographer I make every attempt to ensure my clients will be comfortable in their surroundings and in front of my camera. I strategically choose certain locations around Old Town Temecula that are less crowded. Its awkward enough having someone take your pictures, you don’t need a bunch of strangers watching the entire time too. This was Jake’s first professional photo session, yet he walked into it with an open mind and fully trusted my expertise. Jake’s confidence and contagious smile make him a natural in front of the camera. I’m so glad I was able to capture his fun and easy going personality in a cool downtown city setting.
Embracing Spontaneity
Near the end of every session I always ask my client’s if they have any last minute ideas or poses they would like me to capture. Jake suggested it would be cool if I could get a few photos of him in front of his car. I’ve never photographed cars before, especially not in a crowded parking lot, but why not? I told him I couldn’t make any promises on the photos being worthy of a front cover of an auto magazine, but I could definitely create something he would be proud to set as a profile photo. I have to say the photos we captured with his car were some of my favorites. We were both really happy with the results!
Hidden downtown gems
This old town Temecula senior guy session is proof that you don’t need a big city for standout photos. Sometimes, the coolest stories happen right in the places you least expect.
