How about a fun round of then and now?? You never realize how far you have come until you look back and remember where it was you started. I started my photography career officially in 2004. My dad gifted me a canon film camera for high school graduation. My first paid family session came in early 2005 (see first photos below). I cringe ever time I look at these! I really had no idea what on earth I was doing. But I did try really hard, and at the time I was so proud, lol. Clearly I had no idea how to pose people, or anything about lighting. Did I mention I also suggested shooting at 1pm in the afternoon…??? Oh man! All you can do is look back and laugh.
My first two weddings were in the summer of 2005. A week apart. I only charged $200. I tried to copy the styles of local photographers. Thinking wedding photography was supposed to be very standard, and I wouldn’t be hired if I wasn’t like everyone else. It’s taken years to figure out the kind of photographer I want to be. Working hard to discover my style. I have not arrived and I’m not even close to where I would like to be. But I won’t stop learning and practicing. I love what I do and I want to keep making memories people will cherish forever.
So without further ado…
